Motorway lessons for learners
Since 4 June 2018, learner drivers in England, Scotland and Wales have been able to take motorway lessons, as long as they are with an approved driving instructor in a car with dual controls. The lessons are voluntary, but motorways are not part of the driving test, so this is the best chance to try them with an expert beside you.
What we cover
- Joining from a slip road and matching your speed to the traffic
- Lane discipline, overtaking and keeping a safe distance
- Variable speed limits and overhead signs
- Leaving the motorway safely
- What to do if you break down
The M1 runs just west of Nottingham, so motorway practice is never far away. Newly qualified drivers can book these lessons too.
